Plant workflow

Plant in PlanOps

Plant is where the paperwork and the site drift apart fastest. PlanOps puts the check at the machine, holds a machine with a stop-work defect and keeps its certificates and due dates with it.

The complete run

From the machine arriving to it leaving site

  1. 1

    The machine arrives

Owned, hired and subcontractors’ plant go on one register with the hire company and fleet and serial numbers. Lifting equipment with no LOLER record is flagged straight away.

  2. 2

    Its certificates go with it

Capture the LOLER or PUWER certificate and the inspection schedule is set from it. The certificate sits with the machine, not in someone’s camera roll.

  3. 3

A sticker goes on the machine

Each machine carries a QR sticker. The operator scans it on their own phone, with no app, and sees whether the machine may be used and what is due.

  4. 4

The daily check is done at the machine

The pre-use check for that type of machine, on the phone, before work starts. A machine never checked shows amber until it is.

  5. 5

    A defect stops it

Defects carry a severity, a description and a photo. An open stop-work defect stops the next check from starting until someone clears it.

  6. 6

    It leaves site

Off-hiring a machine closes its check schedules and stops the escalations, so plant that left last month stops generating overdue checks.
